The American Eskimo Dog is a breed of companion dog which descended from sled dogs. The American Eskimo is a Spitz breed and although the American Eskimo Dog comes in many sizes, they can all trace their heritage back to the German Spitz. American Eskimos were first brought to America by German immigrants who settled in Wisconsin around 1870.
